Here at Avila Bakery & Cafe, we introduce you to Venezuelan cuisine with a delicious portion of traditional foods entirely from scratch using our own recipes. We welcome you to try everything from our popular Empanadas to less familiar delights like Cachitos, semi-sweet dough stuffed with cheese and ham.
Our Venezuelan Roots
We use Abuelita Matilde’s recipes. We try to channel her love in everything we make.
Back in Caracas, Venezuela, Gilberto and Amenyuri founded the first bakery in our lineage in 2007, called Panaderia y Pasteleria Gilpan. After a while, we decided to open a place where we could bring our experience and knowledge into the Jacksonville community, sharing a little piece of Venezuela here in Florida. Avila Bakery & Cafe is now run by Gilberto and Amenyuri and three of their children.
Our food is completely homemade, starting from our arepas to our delightful desserts. We use family recipes passed down from our Abuelita, Matilde. With every item we make, we try to channel her love. Avila is the closest thing to sitting at our family’s kitchen table back in Venezuela.
